Here are some pictures of our newest Beetleweight bots:

This is 'Crusher III'. The base plate has been used in many prior configurations, hence the insane amount of holes. Using Banebot wheels for better traction. Can't wait to see how it holds up in the arena.

This one is called 'Stop Hitting Yourself'. The body is made from Actobotics parts, which gets us out of the hole drilling business.

Hi Everyone, we attended the Vector Space event in Lynchburg and won first place in Ants, and third place in Beetles! It was a terrific event. Our hats are off to the Vector Space team for running a super fun event.

Will won first place driving Mint Condition. The trophy weighs 25 pounds!

Here's Will holding Mint Condition. Will's driving was awesome; he went 4-0 for the day in Ants.
The arena was in a great space. Folks could watch from an elevated gallery.

I love it when there's signage.

The loading-in process is better with wheels.

Will is in the pits getting ready to rumble.

Mixed results for Clank today; might need to retire this banged-up veteran of three competitions. It always seemed to have drive issues.

Crusher, driven by Dad, won third place. Alas, design issues may warrant a well needed retirement for this one too. We're getting tired of replacing motors after every match.

NERC 2018 at Franklin Institute

Hi Everyone,

We attended the NERC event at Franklin Institute and had a blast! We competed with Beatleweight, Hobbyweight, and Sportsman bots.

Each of our bots won one match and even our losses were not too shabby with several going to the judges.

The highlight of the day was getting to fight Ray Billings (of Tombstone fame). Our 12-pounder, Supercell, went up against his bot called 'Fake News'. We had a great match which went to the judges who awarded Ray the win. It was truly an honor to compete against one of the greatest combat robotics engineers around.

Meeting Ray Billings, maker of Tombstone! Super nice guy, by the way.

Our three-pounder, sitting on top of our thirty-pounder.

Supercell in the pits. This bot did great! Only damage was to the power switch which was a recessed toggle switch. Won't let that happen again as we are ditching that switch!

The pits require generous portions of Cheez-Its in order to survive the day :)
Dad and son having fun!
